Hi all,

Any thoughts on this?

Vented system - boiler fires up no problems (very noisey on fire up) - banging noise comes from cylinder pipework around where the 3 port valve is - after about 3-5 minutes the boiler shuts down.

I think the 3 port valve has had it as the manual lever doesn't work but I wanted so other opinions on this.

The cylinder is weeping from one of the joints and air can be felt coming from the vent of the F&E

Any ideas on this one - I'm not gas so don't want to get involved if a boiler problem (boiler has been working fine previously)

Unsure on boiler make/model

cheers all.

sounds more like a pump failure to me if the three port wasnt working boiler generally doesnt fire and one port at least is always open your symptoms are lack of circulation causing water in boiler to get hot very quick
or possibly ball valve in header tank is siezed and system has insuficent water in it to circulate

thanks Steve, would pump failure also cause this loud banging of the pipe work as water tries to circulate?

If low water content boiler, if pump not operating correctly, then water over heats in boiler heat exchanger and causes the banging through the pipes, could also damage the boiler thermostat its self putting out of calibration ,causing steam to be expelled out of vent pipework at tank
