No hot water...

Hi folks...

As the title says im only getting luke warm water. As the case usally is, the water was hot infact to hot so turned the thermostat on the storagetank down to 65, for a few weeks this was fine..

come the cold spell of weather we had the water was fine, still nice and hot but now recently say past week the hot water has been luke warm at best.

Usally we turn the heating on and we get hot water and heating. If we turn the hot water on, then what ever the temp is set to on the tank ( 65 in this case ) then we still get hot water and the rads a to hot to touch..

Obviously something isnt right with the setup but to be honest we arent bothered about that we just want to be able to have a bath in some hot water.. instead of taking a shower everytime.

Pipe work wise.. everypipe is roasting hot.. turn the pump down to number 2, pipes get even hotter., the honeywell box, with Auto - open ( i think for bleeding the system ) i think is shafted as the lever dont do crap all. and another like split valve ( blue in colour ) with 3 pipes into it dont seem to do nothing.. just sits there, but again thats red hot..

its a back boiler system on gas naturally.

Any ideas folks..

Need a bit more info about your system though! Boiler type, name anything like that?

Ragardless maybe you coul'd jump into the loft and check the water level on the little tank? Just a thought!

If nothing else it'll give you some excersise!

Thats pretty much all there is.. Little tank where the storage tank fills up from is above it thats full and works as normal.

Given the description given I would suggest there is a possible problem with your 3 port valve - sticking.

Isn't that air sep fitted the wrong way around?

Need someone to check out if the things pumping over IMO!

I thought that as well but the BES catalogue shows that as a suitable configuration.

Hi Mike ... Check out the third from the right picture you posted Mike ... If the custards pump is on the flow, which it looks like it is, then the Airsep is fitted the wrong way around. The pump out should be furthest from the cold feed in line with the open vent.

Yep, you're right. I hadn't actually realised you could fit them any way other than upright. I don't like the things at all myself, I'd much rather see a close couple feed and vent arrangement.

In all honesty Mike we use to change most Airseps to combined f&v if the mi's allowed it. Notorious for surging issues and pumping over!!

The op seems to have a bit more going on regards how their system is working here. Most likely the valve has eventually seized as mentioned but there's a good chance that the cause may lie in the sep config imho
