just been to a job guy and his girl friend thought they could smell damp in their bathroom and thought they had a leak by the toilet checked but nothing i could find felt guilty about charging him anyone else had any thing like this and felt guilty about charging

I dont feel guilty as im not ripping them off

They understand that you have come out to them and this is your work to provide you and your family a living

Many customers genuinely seek peace of mind, if there was nought wrong
then you have done just that.

The men with spurs on their boots would have invented something and
charged plenty.

The old of short in take of breathe and advising that the smell is from the drive train of the toilet cistern which requires a complete new cistern which will now need a new pan as well. I'd also advise a new sink and basin to match which your current taps wont fit on so you will need new taps. Plus this will add strain to the floor so a new floor is required

Il sort it for £5000 though as your a nice couple

Hi We all have differing strategies regarding our business. But by reassuring them that there not a problem. And only taking say a tenner for your trouble, may? If you play the long game, come back ten fold over the years, as they spread the word. Your a fair man.

i wouldn't have the heart to do it

I was given a conscience when i was born but too many episodes of cowboy builders really opens up your eyes

I would charge my standard rate of one hour which is my minimum

Plus i probs would spend a good 40mins or so checking everything so they are getting piece of mind and £40 does not break the bank
