Hi there. Can anyone help.Last night a noise like a boiling kettle/rushing noise started and can be heard all over then house but is worse in the kitchen. When the kitchen cold water tap is turned on it goes away but returns when the tap is turned off again.Any suggestions how to fix this? Thanks for any advice.

I can give more details about problem.Ticking noise like something electrical is coming from under kitchen sink. When I turn cold water tap on or turn stop valve under sink off the noise goes away but comes back when I open valve again.Advice please as does sound like something electrical is shorting out???????? Sound like rushing water is heard throughout whole house also.

sounds like water flowing maybe, may have a leak, washing machine valve by-passing or is outside tap on after thawing out maybe

Be careful if leak could be getting into any electrics around area

Checked under sink and nothing leaking there. As I said very loud ticking noise returns when I turn stop valve on under sink. Also when valve is turned off cold water tap is still working,Should this happen?

are you sure the valve you're turning off is the main one and not just for the outside tap? main one is sometimes hidden behind another cupboard or drawers. one of my customers has to pull the drawers out in the kitchen to get to the stopcock.
