I wonder if anyone can help me? I am getting a very loud knocking noise from the water pipes after the central heating has been turned off. I currently have the central heating turned on and off twice during the day between 0600 and 0800hrs and 1630 and 2000hrs. The loud knocking normally happens about 2 hours or more after the heating has been turned off at 2000hrs. I have bled all the radiators in the house both upstairs and downstairs and looked in the loft where the water tank is and cannot see any loose pipes.

Please help as I am not getting a good nights sleep!

Maybe you have a tramp sleeping in the cellar, after the heating has been off for a few hours,he is getting a bit nippy and is moving about, getting ratty and banging the pipe work

or.........

could be next doors pipework
or could be frost stat on boiler faulty
why do you think connected to heating
