Noisy from immersion tank when pouring hot water please help

Can anyone give us some advice, we dont have central heating so i'm talking about an old immersion water heater.
When ever we use the hot water after less than a minute we get the a really loud vibration noise that can be heard by our neighbours it doesnt stop until the top of the tank has filled back up with water. My husband took the lid of the tank to have a look and he said he can feel like a ball bearing where the arm for the ballcock sits, if he pushes this in a bit the noise stops but he has to keep his finger on the ball bearing :-( and the water basically trickles in so takes ages to fill.
We had this problem before and a so called plumber fixed it but it started again within a matter of weeks, I spoke to this plumber and was basically told to :nono: off he weren't coming out again, I'd been put in touch with him through a third party so can't trace the little toe rag.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just looked on wickes and there are low pressure and hig pressure how do I no which one :-/

Yep Marie ball valve needs replaced I'm afraid. Find a different plumber if that one won't help you. Whats your location one of the lads here might help you.

Its just the diaphram inside the ballvalve you need to replace , it costs around a £1,

sorry kris, I have to disagree with you, just not worth the potential problems changing the diaphragm LOL.
Marie, theres 'a looking or a plumber' section on here, I am sure somebody on here will sort it for you.

What if it's a part 1 valve Kris?

if its a part one you can still change the washer but part ones normally dont make a noise when the washer goes
actually i doubt theres many on here could change the washer on a part one ballvalve was probably the most common job when i started overhaull a ballvalve used to get 20 minutes

think its part 2 looking at pictures on wickes cause it has a bend in it :-/
