Non thermostatic shower mixers.

Do all thermostatic showers have a high temperature limit say 40C or so as I notice that all Spanish Hotels have no limits, one can get scalding hot water from them at max settings or are they simply non thermostic?, They seem to give very consistent temperatures at any intermediate setting.
If a non thermostatic shower is installed with balanced hot/ cold supplies does the
Set temperature remain steady bearing in mind that the hot supply of 150/200 litres will be at a consistent temperature except perhaps at the first draw off in the morning when the first 10/20 litres may be 5/10C higher than the main body of hot water.

1. All thermostatic shower mixers have a "set" hot temperature, normally 38 degrees maximum. However, they (nearly?) all incorporate an override button. Normally you push the button in to allow you to rotate the temperature control for a higher temperature.
2. For a non-thermostatic mixer the temperature will remain reasonably steady provided:
2a. The hot and cold pressures are much the same.
2b. No one opens a tap / flushes the lavatory affecting the pressure of the hot or cold supplies.
3. Recently built homes, and residential care / nursing homes, hospitals have a device called a Thermostatic Mixing Valve near all outlets. These regulate the temperature to around 38 and are not adjustable without tools.

So it's quite likely that these "foreign" mixers are non thermostatic? as there is no limiting feature??, the temperatures are still remarkably consistent.

Might have dedicated supplies or the pipework is such that use of other appliances does not much affect working pressure (especially likely if the pressure is regulated down from a higher mains pressure).

If Spain is anything like Italy, then hot will be from a thermal store boiler which is much like an unvented cylinder and is not restrictive to flow, and thermostatic mixers will be quite rare. The old boiler in my father's shop has inlets/outlets that are probably 1" bore and so flow is extremely good.
