not to many plumbers

can you tell me
how they say we are always short of plumbers
when some of you say there not a lot of work on.........
is the balance of work on the cards/self employed/black market ? gone wrong
or like the government nobody knows

what do you thing

this was on here, other plumbers saying this

this may be because more plumbers on the ub40 working cheaper
plumbers from the east block working for less and so on,,,,

it don't help with thing like the London 2012 development , one big polish job centre

i know the recession here ,but fast tracking new plumber to cover what

Statistics are showing that the european workers (polish plumbers/sparks) are leaving the UK in their droves. Lack of work and poor pay etc. They are able to have a better lifestyle and earn as much money back home as they can in the UK.

Having said that I don't believe any government stats...

As for fast tracking plumbers I think its a couple of issues,

1. People believe the hype and believe in the dream. Your own boss 40k+ per year, start at 10 finish at 11. No stress.

2. Mass unemployment, people receiving large payouts and looking for a new career.

Combine 1 & 2 you will have the plumbing schools earning a lot of money and a lot of plumbers giving it up and falling by the wayside.

This is true of most industries, a good friend of mine, a driving inst, he explained that industry has the same problem at the moment. However, as he said, most fall by the wayside, when the economy improves they go back to what they know.

my mate is a pro boot seller in Spain here been at it for about 11 years
i know on a Saturday he takes 400e don't know about the other six days
perhaps some of us need to get down the booties


perhaps where as the iop and gas safe are concern ,

that's if you don't change your job

in the usa they have unions where you get work so if you work via this way
you can find out the stat that way
areas like London, Essex, Suffolk, and so on

for those of you who obviosly feel that all the old plumbers just have the hump because fast track plumbers did not have to study as long as we did your wrong.30,000 plumbers needed no one ever proved that was true,earn £50,000 to £100,000 a year most never have.i love fast track plumbers 50% of my work now consists of going behind them putting it right.i understand people wanting to get into the trade it has made me a good living over the years,but you can not train a plumber in 6/12 /16 /25 weeks .i have been at it 40 years still learning.i did 6 month course 1967 after i left navy,then went to night school croyden tec for 3 years.i was a crap plumber for first 3 years but luckily got a job with drake and skull brillient firm who put up with and allowed me to continue training.good luck to you all ,i know that the realy keen ones amongest you will continue your training and will make a success of it.
