The inside brass threads in my Moen rough in two handle Roman tub valve (Moen | Bathroom & Kitchen Faucets, Shower Heads, Accessories & More - https://www.moen.com/products/M-Pact/M-Pact-Two-Handle-Roman-Tub-Valve-10-Center-1-2-CC-Connection/4796) were cross threaded with the nylon cartridge valve keeper nut that threads down in on top of the cartridge during the original installation. Discovered this trying to replace the 20 yr old leaky valve cartridge. The threads are proprietary to Moen (not NPT) and about 24 threads per inch, therefore no standard tap available to clean them out. Moen offers no suggestion other than replacing the entire valve. Looking for recommendations on the best way to try to clean the nylon out of the brass threads without damaging them. Would a brass brush from an engine cleaning kit (https://www.harborfreight.com/engine-brush-kit-20-piece-63732.html) be safe for use on the brass threads?
