Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on a Lefroy basin tap. I have a tap where I need to remake the seal where the spindle of the tap goes into the body, through the gland nut. There looks to have been an o-ring, which has perished and there is a weep now when the tap is open, so I want to remake the seal. Lefroy tell me the design of the tap has changed and they can't tell me the size of the o-ring. I am thinking I just need an o-ring which will fit over the spindle snuggly, use some silicone grease where the o-ring is going to sit and then tighten the gland nut carefully, with some PTFE tape on the thread of the gland nut.
I have done the same repair on garden taps just using just PTFE, but does my route using the right sized o-ring etc. described above sound right?
Thanks in advance,
Mickey
