Is it just me or does it strike anyone else that all oftec want to do now is sell us stuff?

Where has their impartiality as an industry body gone? The last so called oftec news was an oftec catalogue. Disgraceful.

No wonder they have never been given any statutory authority if this is the 'market oriented' way they approach compliance.

If anyone at oftec is listening.......YOU CANNOT IMPROVE COMPLIANCE BY SELLING US stuff

And there you have it. What do you people reckon?

(I won't tell you about the oftec inspector coming to us, picking fault and we pointed out that what he advised us to do breached building regs.....where do they find these lunatics. There is a whole other topic here...)

What gets me is £300 for a device to heat up fire valve phials to test them. Do they think we're daft?

They said something about not being safe using hot water and a thermometer. Don't these people know we brew our own tea and that we use hot gas torches and solder as part of our jobs - far more hazardous I'm sure!

I have a dwarf in overalls to make drinks. My idea of Elf-and-safe-tea.

sorrrrrry.

Maybe oftec will start selling them too, I should have applied for the patent!

Can anyone tell me what oftec actually claim to do? There are any number of large sites where 30 or 50 oil tanks (all non compliant) are installed and when you ring oftec, the supposed governing body, they dont want to know.

And then they send inspectors to visit small companies and try to nail us on compliance, when the guy who came to us didnt know building regs!!!!!!!!

Please enlighten me!
