Oil burner randomly turns on

Hi my oil burner has started to turn on randomly. It doesn't heat anything but I can hear it running outside. What could be causing this.? The timer is set to off

Hi Unsure think it's combi haven't a clue about them to be honest. No dripping taps

Ok. I suspect but could be wrong you have two valves and the HW zone valve end switch is stuck. Is your hot water slightly higher temperature than usual?

Hi. Yes the hot water is slightly warmer than usual

Then I suspect the hot water zone valve has failed. I take it you have two 2 ports in the airing cupboard?

I only see one port in the cupboard a myson power extra pump with an auto and manual setting on it

You need someone with a multimeter and an understanding. If it is a 3 port valve I suspect a dodgy programmer.

Sorry it may not to be a three port valve it just looks like that one

Thanks. You have two 2 port valves. One for central heating and one for hot water. I suspect the hot water valve has failed keeping the boiler energised. This can be caused by a seized valve, seized motor or the springs to return the valve have failed.
You need someone to electrically test this to confirm my suspicions.

The valve closest to the foam lagged cylinder. The one up and to the left is for the central heating.

Have a few of them fail it’s the modern replacement for a sunvic (think it’s spelt correctly)
