Don't know if this a stupid question but is it possible to oil rate an appliance in the same way that you gas rate an appliance
 
You can get oil flow meters so I suppose you could, but generally we rely on fitting the correct sized nozzle at the correct fuel pressure (this will only flow a certain amount of fuel by design very fine tolerances on nozzles)
 
No worries all the burners I'm working on at moment have flow meters curiosity always in my head of working out different methods
