Anyone know likely cost of having oil tank removed from a garden, customer now has gas meter and wants a new boiler. Ive never removed one before just capped off and left for customer

Cheers

Metal or plastic? Has it got any oil left in it?

If it's metal speak to your local scrap thief/pikey they will have it and if it has oil in it they will have it even quicker!

Otherwise speak to your local oil tank specialists to do it. It won't be cheap as they will have to dispose of it correctly and the remainder of the contents.

I suck out all the kero, and call my local scrappie who drags it way for no charge, simplees

Only problem with a metal oil tank is if it is in an enclosed garden with no width to take it through.
If you have the width, then after you remove every drop of oil you can, drag it out to a driveway & perhaps use a trolley to push it near the entrance & get a decent scrap man to lift it.
You could use planks & maybe rolling bars if you need to push it over grass areas.
Some scrap guys will have a lorry with a grab to lift it over hedges & walls etc.
Don't try to cut it with a grinder. Sparks & Kerosine gas not a good combination & when it all burns I have found it won't go out.

Jesus just smash hole in it collect dregs. Cut it with recip saw.

If it catches fire use wet towel to cover saw cuts and bung vents. Will die out in about 5 mins.

Metal tank
Drain it then light it
Let it cool and scrap it job done lol

I have had a few go up in flames after cutting them, with must admit an angle grinder. First cut is the dangerous bit especially on a warm day the tank is full of gas. I have heard of a guy got a blast from doing exactly that & also a fire started on oil spilled by a different person.
I found them to ignite & snuff out but had one that did this until the tank was partly open, only holding together with its internal reinforcing bars & it went up in flames, yet tank appeared totally dry. I couldn't stop it burning & wasn't a nice feeling watching it burn. I avoid using grinder now.
