Ive just fitted a 210l unvented oso which is, at the moment heated by solar. There is a temperature probe in its pocket some one third of the way up.
With no taps being used and no other circulation through it, the cylinder looses 10-12 deg c over night.

Do the members think this is an acceptable loss?

Interested if any one has tested this on any other manufactures cylinder.

Should the makers be stating the heat loss figures on there "insulated" cylinders?

That seems like quite a lot doesn't it?!

They all boast how well insulated they are now. The temperature probe, is that a new thing on all Oso cylinders or is it just ones that are heated by solar that have it? Only I've never seen a display on any (standard unvented) that I've installed ?

On the solar Cyl there are 2 pockets.

The solar panels come with a controller and the probes. You get a didital read out of panel temp, upper cyl and lower cyl temp.

Well, it's a handy idea that should be standard on all cylinders. I'm sorry I can't be more help than to say 'Phone Oso'. They'll def have an answer.

I need to get into Solar!! It's the future.

do you have a immersion heater if so on timer or swicth off
is this last thing you do before bed
may be you draw more hot off before bed
then 10 20mins the drop will occur

flat pack

i take it you are talkin about the sensor at the bottom of the cylinder? what is sensor s3 reading on the control panel? top of cylinder?

ring oso. check its been installed correctly.
just as solar panels will heat your water under the right conditions and installation,
they will act as a radiator if not hence, the loss of temperature in cylinder.

its just a guess, but the symptons say thats what happening
