As some of you may know i plan to retrain as a plumber ! however I have been wondering, do any of you have any other skills like plastering or tiling etc ?

do you think having these skills would be more beneficial as you would be able to offer a "more complete job" or would it not make that much difference ?

I have seen a few plastering courses and was thinking of doing one just to add another string to my bow as they say !

definetly mate, plastering to make walls good before tiling after a complete bathroom install.

You can not be a plumber without being multi skilled, its a contradiction in terms

So you should have as many strings to your bow as possible, that means learning the skills not bodging them

plastering, tiling, joinery, electrics, bricklaying, stud partitions we cover them all in the jobs we carry out...

no need to go on a plasterers course though pal- if its skimming a wall then i leave that to the professionals! but making good and small jobs i'll do myself.

you can neva have 2 many skills, i myself love tileing, the more things you can turn your hand to the more cash you can bring in 😀

Gift of the gab is a good skill ... hmmm ... depends how you interpret this one

you need a network of trustyworthy guys who you know you can rely on to turn up on time as promised especially a decent sparky, roofer (if like me you hate anything higher than a shower head fixing), and a rally good chippy for installing expensive kitchen worktops. Then the only other skill you need is politics and project management to ensure they all get on ok!
