Hello to everyone, this is my first thread and am pleased to be a part of your community.

I have my own business, albeit only for the last year and I would like to ask you all if you get asked as often as i do, the old favourite customer quote "cant you do a discount?" or "can we do it a bit cheaper?"...
It really makes me feel uncomfortable and i already feel i do things for a fair price. I find it ever so difficult to say no to this even though i feel i shouldnt, i mean its hardly debenhams my business.....😡

Do you know of any good responses to such questions and is it just me that gets these customers??

in truth just expand on the word no

sorry guys with all my over heads that really is the best i can do, then if they continue you can real of your insurnce fees, liabililty, van, up keep of van, tax, tools etc

yes tell them it was already discounted and if they ask how much for cash tell them that was for cash,dont be afraid to charge the proper rate

"can we do it a bit cheaper?".......yeah sure but I can't guarantee the work and it may leak ... try and make a bit of a joke like that and say exactly what Gas man said. When they ask how much , if you are a bit new to it all you could say " can you pay me cash when I finish" when they say yes then give them the price , this now shows that this is your cash price and makes it a little more difficult for them to start off barganing. I say to some with a little cheeky smile " I 'm not selling candy floss on blackpool beach" or " my mum told me I'm not allowed to drop my prices anymore". It always gets a little chuckle. Hope this helps bud.
