Can someone please give me some advice. My condensing boiler leaks water everytime its on from the overflow pipe. The pressure is 1.5 bar so not too high. If I turn it on full the thing goes nuts after a while and makes some real loud banging from inside the boiler.

Ive bleed all the raidiators and even drained the whole system down before so its almost definatly not trapped air.

Please help.

your boiler needs stripping down get it serviced by a corgi engineer, you cant fix ity yourself.

Sounds like a good service is required and a power flush. Like wise don't do it yourself use a registered engineer.

Why strip the boiler down?

It sounds like your "blow-off" (pressure relief valve) has jammed. Have a look in the manual to identify where it is, give it a quick release and see if that stops it. If that valve is jammed open then there will be a constant flow of water out the overflow pipe, being replaced by a constant flow in from the mains (if the fill loop is open).

I have seen this loads of times....let me know if that solves the problem.

are you sure it is not the condense emptying from the boiler? if the pressure relief valve was letting by then the pressure would not be stable and to be at a constant 1.5 bar you certainly have no problem there!
I am not sure why you are being advised to strip the whole boiler down??????????
Firstly check which pipe does what mate!

i dont really mean strip it down!!!
i mean if you dont know how to service it and he is not qualified to mess about with it, get someone in before he injures himself..
figure of speech. lol.

Wow, thanks for the varied advice. Its good to see you guys disect the problem. Im glad REDSAW and Brian didnt really mean strip the whole thing down. Now that you mention it, I think it could be the condensing pipe (which is plastic) causing the water flow. However I think GPS164 is right in that the blow off value could be sticking (causing the banging). Im gonna locate it and just ensure its not jamming. But dont worry thats about as far as im prepared to go before I call a professional in. Just another point I should mention. The banging only happens when the boiler is turned on full. Ive turned it down a tad and it plays ball.
