Damsel1

Hi all... just moved house and found that the upstairs loo overflows constantly when flushed, all parts look ok and bob up and down ( saiglobal) Any advise on what I should be checking? And if I cant fix it was just wondering if it did need replacing would i be able to use an original torbeck bottom filer ( one of these in another toilet) this looks easier to replace..
many thanks in advance

If its a push button type syphon such as a fluidmaster there could he a possibility it's not seating properly and letting by after the flush ?

you could get a plumber from the forum to help if you post your location, but Id pmsl if damsel 1 turned out to be a hairy assed brickie:)

OMG... so funny..Hairy bum yes, but not a brickie!!
Thanks for the advise guys, I will try and get a pic on later

Thanks Guys...Please excuse the terminology, but this is what's happening. Water comes from the bottom andup through the right pipe coming out of the top. As this happens the right hand blow thingy goes up and doesn't stop so it gets covered in water, then the water just goes down the left pipe. There is a screw to adjust the height but this makes no difference. It is a top push button.

New fill valve should sort it.Post your job in the I'm looking for a plumber section if this site and hopefully someone local to you will be able to help.

Thanks, was hoping to be able to do it myself... not that I would ever underestimate your trade.

If you prise of the blue cap, unclip or rotate internal piece you will find a diaphragm washer, it may just be grit causing no seal, replace diaphragm.

Not worth messing about with that internal washer!

If you want to repair yourself purchase a bottom entry 1/2" Fluidmaster, preferably the pro version with brass shank, will stop you cross threading the plastic threads. Screwfix sell them.

Dont bother with a Torbeck valve either, or you will be changing it again in 6 months.

yup fluidmaster pro all the way, i fitted one to a customers loo on sat - quick bit of cash for the weekend.
