Hi to all specialists and happy new year. I am looking for some advice re a situation that I cannot resolve.
Over the last 5 years I have built a 3 storey house in Skovakia ( I am a Brit and my wife is Slovakian). I employed the local specialist to supply and install a quite complicated heating and hot water system comprising:
1 x Vaillant 30kw gas boiler
1 x 27 kw wood burning furnace with heat exchanger
1 x 300 litre domestic hot water tank
1 x 1200 litre hot water accumulation tank ( heated by the furnace)
Full underfloor heating circuits controlled by room thermostats.
A central controller that is supposed to 1) control the furnace circulation pump 2) control the flow of stored hot water to the underfloor heating circuits 3) control the domestic hot water circulation pump.
There are 3 grudfoss pumps and a couple of valves to ensure that the underfloor hot water does not exceed damaging temperatures.
A number of temperature sensors ( furnace water temp flow/return) ( accumulated water temp at various levels) domestic hot water etc etc have been installed of course
My problem is that the installer does not really understand how it all should be set up. His engineers have visited a number of times and made some adjustments but the whole system is unstable and requires al most constant attention.
Bizzarly if I let the furnace burn out and the vaillant boiler takes over, everything works fine. So I guess that fundamentally the system is ok.
I really want to use the wood burner as it is very warm and due to the thermal mass nature of Eastern European houses can keep the house at more than 25 degrees even if the outside temp is minus 20!
The whole thing got too much when 3 nights ago the circulation pump controller lost its memory (again) and we ended up with the circulation water boiling and then venting via the safety valve. Th installer had not plumbed the vent externally so we filled the entire basement up with steam. I ended up dousing the fire with a hose pipe!
I guess I need to source a reliable controller ( preferably supportable across Europe but at least with english support and a decent company to install it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Again happy new year.
