do work for a big estate agent,my biggist customer ,but for the last 2 months payment has been slow, this is begining to affect my cashflow
i pay out for materails, which i have to pay merchants each month.
i dont want to upset applecart, have about 35 outstanding invoices which add up,any ideas of gentley geeing them up to pay

i wrote a clause in my t&c's once, payment strictly 14 days else 15% interest incurred per week untill settled.
took a housing assoc for 9 weeks with that one once, and they paid again for same job 2 months later.
£250 job turned into something like £700.lol.

You are legally entitled to apply late payment penalties and interest as per UK late payment legislation for business. These sums are set in law and enforceable. You cannot just apply an arbitrary amount as a penalty and enforce it in law.
I suggest you contact your estate agents, explain the issues you are having because they are paying late, and as a sweetener, say that you have never applied the legislation to them as you value their custom. It may make them sit up and realise that you can take action, and thereby cajole them into paying you. I suggest that for future clients, you quote these clauses in your terms and conditions. and on your website.

i think estate agents in general work on the get money from tenenat put in bank get some interest then pay the poor old grafter

Next time they phone u with an emergency call out just say "no chance, I want paid before I go". This may buck their ideas up when they've got a tenant knee deep in water or with a faulty chb

Always a tricky situation but at the end of the day if you work for free you can get work 24/7 which is what, by not getting paid ,you are doing .Best thing is to explain to them you cant continue if your not getting regular payments unfortunatly this is the way some buisnesses seem to work find a tradesman and start of paying on time then slowly decrease payments whilst increasing work then the next step is find another tradesman leaving the first one to whistle for his money bringing up all sorts of rubbish about how they wasnt happy with the work

start developing other customers, dont have all your eggs in one basket, remember estate agents come and go quicker than plumbing firms, even big ones!

hi that is how estate agents do work i also do quite a few repairs for a local independent estate agent uptill this tax year they use to pay me straight away but now thier accountant told them to make sure they dont pay me till they get the rent in i spose so they know they got thier money before they payout but dont help the little man

i have a agent file my invoices in a closed file ,after some time asking x3 about being pay this closed file pop then i got paid.😡

I do work for landlords and the only way to make sure i get paid specially with certificates is to keep the certs, even the tenants copy and when they're all done take it all to the landlord hand everything over and receive my money then post the tenants certs. Non of this do the work get paid two weeks later, doesn't work with me as you dont go to a restaurant, eat the food digest it and go back the next day to pay so why do it with me 🙂
