I am a pensioner trying to get some information regarding my Jaguar boiler. I have just moved into a house with a 23k combo boiler fitted. I do not understand the heating temps i should have for heating and water. There is no thermostat.
The energy people say you should have your thermostat at 21% for comfortable central heating.
What is the setting i require then for the boiler. The heating goes up in steps of 45,50 55,60,65,70,75,80,85 C and the water is 40,42, 45,48,50,52,55,58,60C.
I have my heating at 50 and the water at 50. What would a thermostat show for the heating at this temp.
Have i got correct reps or should they be higher

I hope some one can help me
Many thanks
Hadrian

The 21deg is for your room thermostat Hadrian, but you say you don't have one so just forget about that.

The temps 45 to 85 for heating is the temp the boiler with heat your radiator water to. I normally set them to around 70 but it depends on how comfortable that temp is for your house. If you can heat the home at a lower temp just use that. I never recommend above 75 because it uses a lot of gas.

Same applies to the hot water but I just put it either to max or to a temp you find ok, luke warm water is useless!

i would start at 70 then next day dropit down 5 repeat till the house isnt warm enough then put it up one

good idea to have a roomstat fitted, this would make a big difference on the gas you use

And try not to use wireless if possible.

had a bad run with honeywell rf kit,now using deltadore, better kit,not one failure and a better rf range but more complex to use

Complex = call backs = loss of income = Hard wire whenever possible.

Best of luck with the boiler, not the best one that Glow-Worm made (Available through Plumb-Centre) now discontinued ! you need to find out about boiler replacement, schemes available for older people where you can have a free upgrade.

Many thanks to all who answered my query. I had the heating at 45 and the water at 50, so no wonder I have been cold. I shall put it up to 70 and 60 and try those settings.
once again thanks for the advice.
