Just bought myself a Freezemaster 280D pipe freezing machine after 14 years of managing without one.

I was wondering how many on here use them & if there are any hints / tips / limitations they could pass on ? Cheers.

Yes brilliant tool
Clean flat pipe it's all about contact so use provided gel. Get some replacement screws for attaching the pipe guides to the freezing heads. Trust me you'll need em

all i use is a spray bottle with some water

attach heads
spary pipe and heads with water
turn freezer on
5 mins later spary with water again

thats it

doesnt need to be clean or any special gel

I have the same model , its one of those tools that sits in the garage for weeks doing nothing and then I will use it Twice in one day lol
Yep use the cream provided and when you run out of that use some cheap barrier cream , cover the heads with small wet towels . It will have to go back every few years " for a fettle ".
Also fire it up every couple of weeks even if you have not used it .

Yes definitely fire it up regularly. Mines never had to go bavk

The 280d 5 years just gone still works perfectly

Mines been back twice but TBF, its well over 10 years old , strangely one of the times it just lost all its gas

got mine 2nd hand not had it serviced, bounces round the van, got it out a month back and it worked fine, love it

tip, cable ties for heads, easier than clamps

New freezmasters have a bungee clamp

Depends tbh I wouldn't buy it second hand unless you know the history of the machine

Thanks for all the advice. Used the m/c for the first time today to change a TRV on a system that historically I have known to be troublesome to refill. Saved me a couple of hours I'm sure.
Worked a treat :)
