Hi all
git some pipe work that is in the cellar, not below ground as it goes down into another lower cellar, anyway the pipes have no lagging on on some I can get some 9 mm thick insulation but its really tight in other places so can I get that old style hessein sack type stuff still and is this allowed? Cheers martyn.

if pipework is outside the heating zone then it should have 15/25 or 22/19 lagging fitted to it. Sometimes its impossible to get this thickness on but its best to fit as close as possible. You may have to use a hacksaw blade to cut around and thin out bit that are very tight.

inside the heating zone you normally require 13mm thick lagging if your fitting some.

For a pipe up against a wall in a church hall cellar where I couldn't get insulation round, I got some spare drainpipe, cut a segment off along the length using a bandsaw, squirted loads of expanding foam along the length of the inside and squashed it over the pipe. Looked really neat when done but I needed to cut off set foam.
