Apart from it been 10mm, there is nothing wrong with doing it that way. Just be careful when bashing the hoover around

No real "beef" it's just the hole is fraction larger than the pipe, thought you might need it a bit bigger for expansion?

Job was finished, lifted carpet and boards to have a look as both valves were weeping where the reducers fitted.

I wouldn’t worry about the holes. Those reducers are naff but I’d be hacked off that they just lay carpet over rubbish
