I'm buying a new flat with all concrete walls and floors. The pipes for the heating all run exposed at the base of the walls. The contractor suggested burying them by trenching out the floor and covering them back up with concrete patch. The current pipes are standard plastic with plastic elbows for fittings. My question is is this a good idea? Is it acceptable to use standard plastic pvc pipe. Should I insist on them using PEX without any fittings or should I just leave them exposed like they are now?

Please reply soon as the contractor is waiting for an answer.

Thanks for your help

Put "Plastic pipes in concrete" into the little search box if your in a hurry.

Should be put in trunking should there be any issues in the future

If it's a flat hope it's on the ground floor of not its a no go unless you have had the nod from a structural tech

Cut up the screed and make some ducting out of ply with a lid and lay the pipe work inside this, then self levelling latex over the lid and bobs your uncle and fannies.....well?!

If you do it the above way then might as well do it in copper ay.

Thank you all for your replies. Decided NOT to place the pipes in the concrete floor - will construct cover for them.
