I was a spread but done opposite and got meself out of trades and into a warm office but after a few years I really miss the trades. City oiks just wind me up (another topic). Anyway Because I have been out the business a while, was really only domestic apart from a few small contracts anyway and truth to be told become a bit more squidgy and less fit than I was and older now 37 to hit a large ceiling would probably kill me. I was thinking of retraining as a plumber or a sparks (probably both given time)

I have seen that fastrack courses take a big slating on here and I am appreciative of time served trades etc etc but are there courses out there that will serve the purpose and get me back out of my office job and back into a trade. I am working in London and would love to study around my current job Mortgage wife and kids commitments. IS this really possible or are they all a scam ?

Has anyone done this and able to say whether any training providers out there are any good?. Reputation is everything in Trades and I don't really want to take a shortcut and take a dodgy course and spend loads on nothing I am earning a living at the moment but for a long term plan.

n.b for other london Plumbers I am hoping that my trade will take me abroad so I will be no competition

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

im a tiler by trade and do plastering as side im also appreciative of time served lads but sometimes we have to do short courses in order to learn we cant afford to go to college these days for 2 years full time im also interested in a short plumbing course to add to my tiling and plastering.

apprenticeships now in the building trade are dying out (except from plumbing/electrics) there are alot of plastering tiling bricklaying courses about these days

im a member of the tilersforums and there are more fast track lads than timeserved on there
