Got a plastic bath panel to put on where someone on the past has not fitted it properly.

Currently their is no wooden frame behind the p anel so need to build one

However these panels have that annoying lip on the inside bottom which always makes fitting these awkward , anyone got any tips instead of cutting the lip off to make it easier
 
I fit 2x1 along the bottom raised by a few mm on washers. The lip of the bath panel slides under nicely.
