Hi

First of all I'd like to say hello.

Now on with the question.

I am about to be made redundant from my job at a printing company after 8 years, so will be out of work.
Fortunately a friend of mine is a Plumber/Pipe Fitter and has offered me to go and work with him.
What I would like to know myself is, as I will have a bit of money from my redundancy are there any courses that would be worth me taking.
I am 35 years old and live in the Portsmouth area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Buzz

What about tiling and branch out offering a full service.

The plumbing game is finished. Too many career changerslike yourself i'm afraid. Spend your money wisely as it is hard to get it back.

You could also consider PTS training and get into the railtrack game for about 30-35K a year (genuine rates) or the oil rigs are still paying half decent money 25-40K (2 on 2 off). Go for the BOSIET + OLF courses which will allow you to work in Dutch and Norwegian waters (along with just about anywhere else in the world, (you may also need FOET and HUET))

Cheers for the advice.
I have tried Googling about plumbing courses that are local to me. But seems to come up with all kinds of results. Would be greatful if anyone knows of any reputable courses.

Tamz, cheers for the reply. But as my mate has already offered me work, I feel its too good of an opportunity to turn down. Allthough it might be worth looking at learning other trades aswell.
Not sure about working on oil rigs though. Not sure I would fancy that.
