Hello everyone I am a beginner plumber, I am 30 years old. i want to do the NVQ/City and Guilds plumbing Level 2 course but its so much money. is their anyway I could do it as an apprenticeship? I know self employed plumbers I could work with. Does that mean the government will pay for my Plumbing course?

Please any advise would be great.

Feel free to email me.

No, not a chance. Whatever you want to do it will cost you! your the wrong side of 16, so colleges don't get funding for you. If you want to do an adult apprenticeship then you'll need to find someone willing to take you on. Whoever takes you on will probably have to help you out with fees.

I spoke to a few of my local colleges and I was talking to a brick wall.

You'll earn pea nuts, which can obviously be difficult and being 30 you'll learn fast be keen and want to progress quickly so a small plumbing company or individual is basically going to train there competion.

Don't get me wrong, a 30 year old has got an awful lot to offer as an apprentice, ability to talk and hold a converstation with a customer, to be given a task, complete it and look for the next task not stand around texting constantly!

Unfortunately, no government agency wants to help, You can get a career developement loan but that is exactly what it is a loan!

12 On an open vented system, the primary vent must be installed at least 450 mm above the feed
and expansion cistern in order to
a) prevent surge effects
b) avoid the possibility of air locks
c) enable access to the cistern
d) prevent back-siphonage.

I went for A)
