Plumbing help -strange things are happening!

Strange things are happening in our house at the moment with our water....whenever we run the bath upstairs the hot water tap in the kitchen runs all by itself??!! The tap is turned off in the kitchen but whilst the bath is running the kitchen sink can fill with water.

We live in a 3 storey house with the bathroom on the 3rd floor, kitchen on the 2nd and the stop tap is located on the 1st.

If anyones got any ideas why this could be happening it would be appreciated as we are baffled 😕
 
tap is turned off in kitchen whenever the bath is running but still manages to run?? We do turn the hot water top off underneath the sink now to prevent wasting water.....could we need new washers on the kitchen tap maybe?
 
Strange may be but do u need us to tell u your kitchen tap isnt doing what it should.
Replace taps or get a set of revivers for em.

hey hey, might seem an odd quesion but is the kitichin directly underneth the bath?? might be caues they are using the same disaburtion pipe and the water is forceing its way though the kitichin as the water is turned on above. just an idea.
 
when you say it runs by itself at what flow rate, does it drip? how can it possibly run if it is shut? Try this.... Turn the kitchen hot tap on....now turn the Hot bath tap on...see what happens...then turn the kitchen tap off and let the bath fill
 
Strange one this because if it was a blockage in the drain it would only fill when the bath is being empied not filled?
 
like plumbstar Tom asked what system have you got i.e combi boiler or hot water cylinder
