Are there any common trade issues which make jobs difficult to complete?

As I look around, would say lack of skills is a big trade issue :(
Also a lack of communication between separate trades. i.e everyone trying to get their bit done without thinking about, or caring about the next tradesman doing their bit.

Poor planning and scheduling by site managers. Delays to work caused by other trades.

Reverse Path Planning with inadequate contingency factors.

Ambiguous or inadequate specification of works and materials.

Working with 'green energy' installers, who do not know the first thing about plumbing and electricians who have no idea how to correctly wire a heating system.

Opening the lunch box and finding your mates got a nicer sarny than you AND a bigger banana.

This has got to be top of the pile in my book

Cash flow, If I have some work done I make sure that the money is there to pay the bill. I dont use the tradesman as free credit or a savings/charity scheme.
Iam currently owed 2.5k, I owe the merchants 2k, Ive got work coming in and cant get any materials for the jobs until Ive paid the merchants off, I cant pay the merchants until the custard has paid me, at this rate Iam going to have to raid our wedding day fund to pay off the merchants.

Being told a job is ready for you and when you get there it plainly isn't, but sort of is ?

this is a massive pet hate of mine - telling you something to just get you to the job!!!!

dont like this either went to a job the other day and the site looked like a bomb had hit it ,plumbing ripped out by brain dead labourers for the ch i now have to reinstate and customer thinks i can put a combi on 40 year old rads are they mad? i am not doing it new rads or get a cowboy told site was ready when its months away

If that happens to me, I make the site ready myself and charge plumbing rates for doing so. They don't leave it that way for me ever again!
