Hi guys can I pick your brains if I may
Auntie has bought a new house (well new to her) and says the hot and cold water isn't very good upstairs and that when the taps are opened on cold,HW comes through for a bit before it goes cold. I was up in the loft yesterday and it seems there are 2 tanks, linked in the middle,1 with the vall valve and 1 with 2 outlets, which I assume are HW and CW. The taps upstairs have really poor pressure and I'd guess the head to be 3 meters. The taps downstairs have a lot better pressure but still run hot when the cold is opened for maybe 10-20 seconds. And I'm not sure if downstairs is piped off the mains. There is an electric shower ran on 10mm hep which offers woeful pressure too.
Any ideas?

All taps are mixer taps, not sure of brand etc, couldn't see anything.

Cold downstairs is probably on the mains.

Upstairs you can't do much unless you fit a combi/unvented/booster.

Shower feed should be 15mm. Could be a cheap shower too.

Hot and cold pipes are probably touching under floors.

Thanks my man. All the above I suspected. I told her I couldn't see a fault, just not the best way to do things. The shower I can re pipe for her, with regards to the CW,I was wondering if I could alter in the loft to give cold off the mains but what ramifications would there be with the tank fed HW to CW pressures?

Possibly if there are no mixer taps.
