had a problem with this boiler, the boiler was dead and after resoldering some dry joints on the ecu the fan started working, but the boiler wont ingnite after reading some earlier threads on this site i removed the clear tube on the aps and the boiler started working ok but i'm bit worried about what i've done is it safe and why does it work without the clear tube connected.also i dont have 240v between t2 and t4

Hi Roymondo

With regards your boiler and the removal of the clear tube to the air preasure switch
You are right to be worried, the boiler should not be run like this,it could be a faulty aps,in which case you are over riding a safety device or it could be fan is running slowly, thus not getting rid of burnt gas'es correctly,or the case seal may not be sealed correctly
Persume you mean 50e netaheat/profile,this boiler operates under negative pressure inside casing and it is impoertant the above items are working correctly
You have attempted a repair and it has not worked
Therefore it is strongly advised that you get a qualified person to inspect and repair your boiler correctly and safely as soon as possible and do not use until that is done

thanks puddle, i have changed some components on the ecu 3 capacitors and 1 resistor put it all back together with both tubes connected and all is ok , i wouldnt attempt to touch the gas side of boiler but i'm not to bad on the electrics.fingers crossed all is ok, just going to check my building insurance.

the point is the electrical side quite often controls the safety devices and no your building insurance would laugh any claim out of court if you have an explosion due tinkering with the boiler
thats why gas engineers need min 2mill public liability insurance because even trained engineers can miss things
