Hi guys, visiting from the dark side - I'm a spark. Had heating engineer out at my old mum's central heating. Has been tripping into lockout. At first it appeared to be loosing pressure which was resolved, but since whilst keeping pressure continues to lockout randomly. The engineer has replaced the overheat stat, cleaned out the system and....it's still going into lockout. When it does, the fan continues to run, and pressing the reset gets the system up and running again. I need to get this sorted before the winter really kicks in - any suggestions on a fix?? Regards

Depends on what boiler it is as to what the fault could be.
It might be worth considering the manufacturers 'fixed prince's repair rather than guessing.

Hi polo1 ... Unless you're attending and seeing what's going on it's not something you can 'guess' accurately at alas, loads of things can cause a boiler to trip!

Guys, thanks for taking the time to reply. Firstly, I'm not trying to effect a repair myself! The heating engineer is a nice lad, but appears just to be tying things, rather than diagnosing the problem. Likewise, I'm not looking for a diagnosis over t'internet - rather an idea of what should be getting looked at. The boiler is around 10-12 years old, it's microbore from two manifolds ground and first floor. The rads all heat up fully when working (i.e. no obvious cold spots). I appreciate this is a public forum, so would be happy to receive a pm if appropriate. My main objective is to get this fixed asap without working down a list of "it might be"! Thanks again
