Alrighty guys, friends just called, he's gone and moved pipework + changed a few rads.

system was already drained before he got there.
on refilling the boiler fires for around a minute, stops, then runs again after a few more minutes for around a minute again.

it shifts heat from the boiler and pump is working.

i'm thinking the fan is on its way out and running slow?
that or the pcb has gotten an intermittent fault?

i'm not going over now, but i will go tomorrow.

any insights on these beasts are appreciated!

Its air locked

already asked this, pipework rises off the boiler into the airing cupboard, manual air bleeds at all high points. Its shifting heat everywhere, just runs in the cycle the whole time including on hot water and thats just a loop.

So all rads are getting piping hot? Could still be air causing it to cycle

Not long enough for them to get any real heat in them apparently.
he's been a plumber for about 8 years, i trust he can shift an airlock :)

Ahh well i'll see when i get there tomorrow

Check out the flow from the boiler, it's probably not moving fast enough.

An air lock somewhere on flow or return.

Reckon if you were to bridge out the boiler stat the o/heat stat will pop,
that would show it's a circulation problem.

Fans buggered, its leaking and the gas valve is weeping from the body .
Terminal filled with render.
Such poor condition.

Capped and quoting to replace.

I felt very sorry for the people.
Just moved in too.

3mb leak on the boiler. Everything else was tight.
home for some bacon then off again!

methinks an intergas open vent.

Check the aps switch hoses. Are prone to heavy rain causing blockages on these. Pull them of and check for water ingress.
