Right iv got my tight sod cap on.

I bought the fernox powerflushing machine last summer, used it a few times been succesful. Nervous on first use but after that you get used to it.

Iv been looking at the filters, £500+, how successful do you think a thin gauze with a strong magnet would be? Into a small tub with a large bore tap on the outside going into the drains? If we had loads on with power flushing id just buy one, but there isn't much demand or need for it at the moment. More something to meddle with than anything.

We now own a Kamco unit with the filters and I agree it is pricey!!!!
previous I had a Sentinel flusher and we used quite successfully two pieces of 28mm copper tube about 18" long with some barrel magnets we found on eBay. We fixed the magnets on some 3mm rod and shoved them in the pipe and capped both ends. All we done then was put them in the flusher and it worked a treat!
have to say though the filter on the Kamco is awesome it collects crap loads of magnetite and in my opinion it is really the only way of insuring total cleanliness!

Cheers Magic.

I wouldn't mind buying one if needs must but at £500 + it is a chunk to find. Plus making a filter would be so much more fun!

Agree with Dannyboy. Kamco magnetic filter seriously speeds up powerflushes. Pulls out so much sludge that would otherwise just circulate round the system.. Worth every penny.

I had so many recalls to powerflushs before buying a magnet. I get none now, I also think it's good as you can show the customer the sludge a and it makes it seem better value for money if they can see you actually getting stuff out. Makes presenting the bill that much easier ☺

Ive got the big kamco.
Managed to pick it up for a good price.
Overpriced.

After all its a bit of moulded plastic with a lump of magnetic steel.

Would be cool to make a huge mahoosive powerful one

length of copper tube with a cap on some magnets on a rod inside just put it in the tank while your flushing how about thesehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50pcs-Strong-Ring-Round-Magnets-Disc-Hole-N50-Rare-Earth-Neodymium-10mm-x-3mm-/121527122131?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c4b94b8d3 actually i might try it my self
cant see why that wouldn't work. Drop it in the power flusher tank on a bit of string.
tell us how you get on.

I USE A LONG BAR MAGNET ( THE TYPE TO BOLT ON THE WALL FOR ALL YOUR KITCHEN KNIFES)
just place in tank when running and pull out every 5 mins works real well

Must say the Kamco is expensive but works a treat. I always show customers the amount of sludge that is pulled out of there system. You have to watch it though, you sometimes have to clean the magnet throughout the flush as it can collect so much sludge it actually restricts flow! Have just invested in the dual magnet and immersion heater to warm systems where the boiler is dead.

I have had the adey magnacleanse which is rubbish. The magnets are no way near as strong as the kamco ones adey 400 kamco is 11,000.
I have bought the kamco combimag dual it has the magnet and heater. I'm really pleased with it. Adey kit are a waste of money. The vibraclean keeps braking when hammering the radiators and the magnacleanse isn't powerful enough to clean a system out just using the pump on the system. You need a strong powerflushing machine and a strong filter. Kamco is the one. It's that strong it will break your phone, car key, credit cards, watches etc. As soon as I turned it on I seen it grip the black Iron oxide. It might be pricey but it will make your job quicker and give you a better result. Charge customers more for the service your providing as not many people use these kits. Hope this helps.
