Hi there, annual service from British Gas and theyre saying my noisy boiler is due to the fact that it's full of muck?? They're recommending a power flush followed by a magnaclean. Now the magnaclean idea I quite like as we have had problems in the past with the heat exchanger plugging but as for the power flush can I just not get a cleaner from a plumbers merchant and give it a good flush myself?

Thanks

get an independant quote from a local engineer
and no just whacking in a cleaner wont work

power flush plus British gas = empty pockets

Get a couple of qoutes from some independants

Doing it yuor self with chemicals may help but wont clear it all and wont clear it porperly so the promblem will build up again

If you search on the internet devices such as magna clean are highly recommended to help prolongue the life of appliances such as your boiler

BG normally charge around £600 to £700 to flush your system an independant firm will charge around £350

If you google magnaclean you will see how much they cost. Allow about 1 hour for fitting it if the system is already drained. If it is straightforwards and the pipes are accessible, I charge about £40 -£50 to fit one including fittings.

like whpes says you'll find magnacleans fitted for 150 or less. i charge 130, power flush 300 both together for 400... id be there a day

i assume british gas are charging 600 for flush and 250 for magnaclean.
