Pressure testing internal waste pipework

How do you go about pressure testing internal waste pipework in a building before commissioning it?

Got a job in an office block and building control want to see the new waste pipework that to be installed pressure tested before it's put into use. It's impractical to do it after final connection to the stack because an airtight seal wont be able to be achieved due to the ventilation in the stack. Would they usually be happy to have it capped off before it enters the stack so that all ends can be sealed?

Yes, can't expect you to test existing pipework, install access as close as poss to stack on waste run.
Min 38mm for 2 mins without a drop.
They might come back & ask you to do a function test for siphonage if it is a range of fitting so make sure it don't pull the traps.

You use a drain tester and bungs, either fixed bungs or balloons on hoses that get fed in to the stack and pumped up, sometimes it's impossible to test everything but they usually want as much as possible included in the test, if it's not something you have done before enlist in the help of someone to do the job with you, you need to pay them, but every day is a school day and once shown by an expert you will know how to do it, rather than mess too much on your own getting it wrong, try to arrange the inspector to call late afternoon so that you can get there early and confirm all is well, they hate being kept waiting about while you try to sort yourself

Bung stack top and bottom with bags. Basically a drainage bung you pump up. Get the monument test plugs. Pump it up and test.

and pressure test using that dinky little 6" manometer thats been rattling around in my van ever since I saw it going cheap and thought oooh that will be good for pressure testing the drains especially with that bung and t piece pipe work............................................................................... yours for £10 plus £12 postage

Is it a completely new stack/office block or existing and your just adding a waste pipe?
if just adding then I think that is just stupid and building control ought to stop with the red tape and actually check things that matter! like is the building structure been built correctly and is safe etc.

Just adding a discharge from a sanispeed into an existing stack - about 8m of 32mm pipe! Its in a spec for a government project and everything is over the top. I honestly think they have spent longer creating the tender document than it will take to do the job

Open stack above boss. Drop in bag pump up out bag above pump up. Bung end of 32 with test bung and pressurise.

got to laugh, the rnli has just had an asbestos inspector do his bit over our 17 year old boat house built to their spec, seems they cant remember not using the illegal material to put it up in the first place!!!!!!!!! daft beggars another few hundred quid wasted to tick another box !!!!!!!!!!!!!
