Hi,

I recently had some building works done whereby several rads were removed & then replaced.

The boiler hasn't been the same since & will cut out at periods per below.

I have a Potterton Suprima & have had it serviced almost annually.

I have an expansion vessel up in the loft which at the end of the build required repressurising & I have kept an eye on it & has only dropped slightly & I reset again.

The green light on the boiler begins flashing which according to the manual, tells me the boiler temp control has been satisfied but, the heat from the rads ceases.

To confuse matters worse (but, solves the problem), there is a a small white box/mechanism situated just beside the boiler, & if i force the black lever back, the bolier re-lights according to the times set . This usually continues until the black lever edges fwd & I have to repeat the proceedure again. It's almost pressured?

I'm wondering if my builders didn't bleed the rads & pressurise the system correctly, which is causing this problem?

are you talking about the motorised valve ?

the boiler firing up
are the rads getting hot ?

Excuse my lack of knowledge but, I'm unsure what a motorised valve looks like.

Yes, the boiler does fire up after the the black switch is pushed(almost forced) and at this stage the rads become hot

Yep, looks very similar & it's the switch on this that I have to force for the green light to remain on & for the rads to heat up. The water does appear very hot thou?

did the builders/plumbers put new thermostatic valves on your radiators?
you need to have one radiator that is permanently open for water to flow through.
if they did, remove one of them.

No new thermostats were put on rads when they were re-installed after build.

I'm wondering, if it's best for me to get someone in to bleed/drain system & repressurise . Do you think that this will solve the problem?

I'm slow to call in someone & I don't request job specific & before I know it, they reckon I need this & that which my not be required.
