big craw

I am working in a house with a new 300ltr pressurized cylinder, just finished the main bathroom about a month ago every thing was ok now cylinder seems to be losing pressure.any ideas?
Also, i am going to fit a secondary immerser as only one fitted and only source of heating water as heating coil from boiler not connected yet.how easy is it to do and is it any different from normal immerser as i have fitted these with no problems.thanks

When you say loosing pressure, presume you mean pressure is down from when it was first installed, as pressure in cylinder is from the mains, so maybe area mains pressure has been dropped or the pressure reducing valve has been adjusted on mains supplying cylinder
Immersion heaters are fitted the same as normal ones however may not be standard fitting, thread size or type and are generally alot more expensive, also on some models top immersion heaters are different from the bottom, also you have to be careful at which setting the thermostat's are set, all depending on make of cylinder
Note to work on these types of cylinders you should have the correct qualification and knowledge to do so

thanks for your reply i know you need to be certificated to work on pressurized cylinders also have got immerser for it not easy to get a hold of.I thought it was down to the mains pressure, was really looking for reassurance,or if there were any other quirks that might cause it.The mains supply is shared with some cleaning equipment as it is located on a farm/dairy,have suggested swopping mains so that house supply comes of the mains first then feeds dairy.Hopefully this would also help.

It may help if you tell us the make and model of this unvented cylinder.

Has it a internal air bubble..?

When you say cylinder is losing pressure, is this on the hot water side or heating.

please dont be installing a standard immersion heater to an unvented cylinder
make sure its a proper heater recommened by the cylinder manufacture these cylinders do go bang !

Hi. Just to reinforce that which has been noted. The immersion heater for unvented differs for normal owing to the manual reseting high limit thermostat that is mandatory on such a unit for safety reasons. It may also be the case (unless change of late) that immersion bosses on unvented along with the heater/immersion are a smaller thred to that of the standard cylinder.

big craw make sure you use correct immersion, unvented cylinders you are required to have the unvented cert to install/repair.they are like a bomb, if safety valves are not installed properly, you need to know what you are doing

Thanks for your replies I do not intend to carry out the work myself as I am not qualified, also I have ordered the correct immerser from the manufacturer,it is a sapphire cylinder made by heatrae sadia for William Wilson the plumbers merchant.I was looking for guidance as to the possibilities of the problem. It is losing pressure on the hot water side.
Cheers
