Hi guys received a phone call today, customer said his stopcock leaks when turned on/off.

Said I can go and have a look tomorrow to repair/replace. He said to just replace it.

Water can be turned off from the street. apparently.

Stopcock is under the floor just inside the front door, so is mine at home and can be got at it 30 seconds.

Providing the water can be turned off outside and the faulty stopcock can be accessed easily what would you charge?

Cheers

If I could make it a way home job 1 hours money plus materials. If I needed to take time out in the day to do it 2 hours plus.

If its a straight swap brass one to brass one then id be charging £45 thats including price of stopcock, it might just be the packing gland that needs a little tighten and it would stop the leak and you can still charge £40

Sorry army where i stay i never need traveling time or fuel so depending how far away it is you could charge £75-£85

Standard 2 hour call time here £50 + materials £70 unless i know them then probably £50

For small jobs I say my hourly rate plus materials. Anything over half a days work I will go out and price but it's not worth my time for a small job. Of they don't like it then I'm not wasting my fuel to get there. You can give a rough idea of time over the phone so you could say as long as the outside stop tap works and the valve is easily accessible then it should take no longer than an hour but any problems it may take longer.

Ok thanks guys, just been there, didnt get a chance to look at the thread before I went.

pics to follow in new thread along with questions.....
