Problem with stiff nut ...

I have a problem with a nut on the hot side of a deck-mixer under a kitchen sink. Used crowsfoot and basin wrench, even tried bacho spanner, but to no avail. It just wont budge.

Any ideas what else I can do? Apart from cutting the pipe and lifting out the sink!

Just a thought. If a union won't budge a blowtorch and a spray of easer often helps. In this location you can't probably use a torch. What about a soldering iron to apply heat ??

i had a very stiff tap nut once that had been sealed with something that had set hard. i used a combination of a tap wrench, one of those iron ones, and a set of adjustables as extra leverage. the nut eventually came loose after a lot of heaving!

its got boss white or simular on it,
get a deep socket set and 1/2 bar on it, not failed me yet.

Most wouldn't know what one looked like

That reminds me. I usually find it easier to break a connection if I first try to tighten it. I suppose I get an extremely slight movement onto a clean bit of thread that helps break the seal. Worked for me on a 3/4 inch union yesterday.

Sorry for my ignorance, but any chance you can put a link for the deep socket set and 1/2 bar, as i'm slowly collecting my tool's for when i can get a plumbing job.

Wd40 works well in this situation SOMEtimes, apart from that I go for heat as suggested b4.

Hmm!

Toolstation sell a 1/2" washbasin x 3/4" bath box spanner and you can get a tommy bar from somewhere, about £6 for the box spanner. That is of course if you can't afford the deep socket set.
