How many times can I count the number of filling loops left connected by 'professionals'. Water Regs? anyone.

It's all call backs mate. All money at the end of the day! Some people think they know better, and let 'em.

i prefer the jobs to be forgotten once installed, a prv needs to be tested perfectly to work - if you have the time and the client will pay the labour then by all means service it - tho remember it wont be covered by manufacturer when heat ex pops ! better to install a new one <20 quid, ensure the filling loop is capped off. charge your client accordingly. your clients wife is happy cos the whole job only cost her 50 quid and she's got a new something to brag to her friends about and you wont get a return phone call. its not all about the easy money !

thing is its a catch 22 - you up the pressure the prv goes off then it passes if a tiny bit of debris gets stuck...

migo would you fit a new prv then not test it ?assuming its going to work ? or how do you got about testing it ensuring that it doesnt stay slightly open ? intrigued on what others do on this ?

you test a new prv by overpressurizing, monitor blow off pressure, record it on benchmark or if old system plant room log book.
once installed and tested like a car mot, only valid for the day.
at least you have then installed manufacturers own gear and all regs have been followed.
imagine servicing your own prv, doing the same paperwork as above, then after testing on day 1. decides not to pop until 10 bar, think my paperwork would stand up better than yours !!

not meant to sound nasty, but reading it back it does - apologies for that, not intended, but hope you get the point

migo, i'm mearly an apprentice allbeit an old one lol, not quite completed level 3 just yet, so basically i assist my boss, we work together never on our own so whilst he does what he does lets just say i like to learn the proper way. And ive never seen him test a prv lol.

that was the reason i asked if you test the new prv you have fitted, as couldnt you be called back for it passing as they are prone to leak after tested.
