Have heard that Loctite is the new system for sealing joints and that PTFE is to be phased out. How true is this? Has anyone used the Loctite and how effective is it? I've always used PTFE. Is Loctite the way forward. Can it be used on all joints, gas and water, or is it better on some and not on others? Need help gents. Please advise. Thanks

How odd a post about Loctite V PTFE with and ad banner for Loctite products next to it.🙄

we have used it since it was 1st on the market,it saves all the waste that you get with ptfe, before it was on the market i used the the string that the sprinkler boys use,but even they have come over to using the loctite,a very good product in my view.

Ah I see!!

I mix and match!! PTFE gas tape or jet blue paste on gas.
Loctite on rad valve tails. Haven't used the liquids yet.
I got stitched recently brought a load of PTFE tape over the phone being told it was gas tape but turned out to be 50 rolls of regular. So I'll be a PTFE man for a while and as work is slow, slow, slow could be for some time.
I work with someone who totally hates PTFE and swears by loctite.

All the best

I have only used Loctite when I was given a free sample, it seemed to do the job
How much does it cost compared to PTFE?

For last 30 years have used various Loctites to hold together & seal loads of stuff on Aircraft. surface ships and Submarines, high pressure steam, air, hydraulics ( 1000's PSI) and never had a failure /leak..

so would seem to probably be oK in the home..😀😀.

They didn't use Loctite on the Kirsk did they.😀😀

Hottapplumbing, where do you get your Jet Blue? I cannot find it anywhere. (or were you using this as a generic term for another product!)

I'll try out this loctite stuff though.
