Hi all, I recently had to change the top element in a pulsacoil 2000 water storage tank in an apartment block. I first turned off the water supply to the tank using the stopcock by the water meter just to the side of the tank.I then drained the system down from the drain plug just above the pump as the lower one the other side of the pump did not drain when opened, just trickled. I guess this is blocked with sludge? Anyway after several bucket loads I was able to unlock the top element without too much trouble and replace with new element and 7" stat. I then changed the water sensor leads x2 and turned back on the stopcock tap. No water started to enter the tank and so I then filled the header tank several times until it stopped entering the main tank. After a check for leaks, all good, I then flicked the trip switch back on to power the storage heater. Had power but could not get power to heater. I reset the time on the boost switch timer and tried pressing boost. The electronic timer with boost button was still illuminated as "Off Peak" I pressed the boost button but it did not illuminate and no power to boost heater. What have I done wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated, DF. (TheFamousForry) merry Christmas to all. Eagerly awaiting a good reply. PS. I changed the element as it was leaking and had damaged the top and bottom stat. I have not yet changed the bottom stat. Would this be the cause? Did I drain and refill correctly?

i would think the clue was in "off peak". economy 7 probably, no amount of fiddling with the timer will get power when it is not due to come on until 11PM or thereabouts.

hi, just as a matter of interest, what make and model is the programmer, because there are some right *rap out there. If you cant suss out the programmer, wire the immersion heater stat on a length of 2.5 cable straight in to a plug socket(be careful)to prove weather or not its the programmer. I bet you need anew programmer.

Nice one - Thats what we do - but all Gledill Pulsecoil stuff is poo -
the opertation in blackpool charge so much for parts we just walk away
there is no profit in dealing with the things CHK

LOL fortunately there are not that many over here, there is a development about 3 miles away from here with about 40 apartments. I just stock stats and immersion heaters. I cant remember the name of another dreaded 'gledhill' product, but it is a boiler/cylinder with 3 pumps and they claimed (or used to) that if the boiler broke down you could turn on the immersion heater and it would warm the house, 3 kw , yer rite. LOL

Worst things known to man those things.

Only advantage they have over a normal unvented is not PRV discharge
