I fitted a new stuart turner 3.0 bar twin pump to replace an existing faulty cheap pump and now i'm having problems.
I made alterations to the pipework as the existing was installed very bad and even fitted a surry flange to the cylinder. Everything works fine but every so often the pump switches itself on when all the outlets are off. its when it does it in the night and it wakes the customer up. The pump sits next to the cylinder with the cold tank in the loft above. There is nothing letting by at all on any outlets. I have spoke with stuart turner pump assist and they told me to isolate the pump via the valves and see what happens. Everything was fine. never turned itself on. So that ruled the pump out from being faulty. They have now told me to fit a very loose non return valve to both inlets incase its air flowing back down from the cylinder.

Is this right or has anybody else got any suggestion on what it could be

Don't ya just love the plumbing game !!

Thanks guys

as mentioned, you got small drip somewhere, maybe toilet filling valve or taps

Cylinder expansion blocked or scale around DHW outlet scaled up??

Isolate cold on pump one night then hot the next may identify who is causing prob? Also any late night toilet users?

As manufacturer told you pop some single check valve's on I had the same problem a few yes ago and that worked a treat.

Yeah thanks northcarr think I will just do that. And yes thanks Howsie, not had much luck with these to pumps. Thanks for all your replies
