I was called to a house that reported the hot water header tank was over flowing, so I expected a passing float valve and visited.

The valve operated correctly and the problem was more involved. They have 3 showers running from a Salamander 3 bar pump. The pump and installation seem fine and a S fitting was used on the tank.

She complained of a drumming/vibrating noise whenever they ran a shower (which i heard) and after the showers were used the over flow would 'shoot' water out. I saw the marks on the mud outside and the water does not just drip out but comes out with some pressure.

The vibrating noise I found to be the cold feed to the tank, which i clipped up to reduce the noise but obviously not fix it.

We ran the shower for a while but I could not get the tank to overflow.

I suspect air/pressure from somewhere! Also, the showers drip massively after they are switched off.

Ideas please anyone?
