This by now way a criticism of our local plumber, who I feel is being open and honest.
After a total house drain cleaning he says there is a upstairs blockage in 3 inch pipes leading from two toilets - there’s also sinks, tub/showers in two bathrooms. He was unable to clear these blockages with the cleaning and says the only solution is to replace the pipe, tearing apart our living room ceiling. This will cost $12,000-15,000 with total repair to the ceiling (six days total work). Toilets are draining fine at the moment, but plumber says it could be good for two days or 20 years.
Just wondering if there’s any alternatives to this extreme fix, or should we just take our chances?
