I havean open vented central heating system with an expansion tank in the loft. The system has two zone valves; one for the hot watercircuit (coil in a cylinder) and the other for the heating circuit (radiators). The radiators in the bedrooms have TRVs; allthe remaining radiators in the house have normal, constantly open valves.

Thesystem has a bypass loop which, I am told, is used to dissipate the residualheat in the boiler when the last zone valve closes and heat from the boiler isno longer required. The bypass loop hasa Taconova Setter inline valve, which has a window with a scale on it andthrough which you can see a spring. Thevalve also has some sort of screw adjustment on it.

Are there any circumstances under which this valve might releasewater?

Thank you for the reply. The valve had developed a fault. The seal between the lower glass window and the brass body was leaking. It has now been replaced.
